Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Relationship Gone Wrong

Inside Their Relationship

It’s always a sad event when two people in a relationship split up. That is also the truth when the relationship deteriorates between a Hollywood couple. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are one of those couples whose relationship has been through a lot of things and in the end, they ended up in court.

From being in love to almost killing each other, here are some of the tidbits of their relationship.

How they met

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met for the first time in 2009, co-acting in the movie called, “The Rum Diary.” Johnny Depp portrayed a journalist Paul Kemp who goes to Puerto Rico for a job. Amber Heard played the character Chenault who falls in love with Kemp at first sight.

Depp and Heard were both in relationships with different people when they filmed, “The Rum Diary.” Johnny Depp said he started having real feelings for her when they shared a kiss in the shower. However, after the movie was done being filmed, they wouldn’t see each other for two years until promotion for the film began.

They Start Dating

Johnny Depp and his wife, who had two children together in 2012, split up. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp started dating and got engaged two years later. One year later, in 2015, they got married.

Heard Files For Divorce

15 Months after Amber and Johnny got married, Amber filed for divorce. She claimed that Johnny was abusive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Their differences and fights escalated into a bad fight that Amber Heard filed a restraining order against Johnny Depp. Johnny said there was no truth to the lawsuit, but they settled out of court in August 2016 with a seven million dollar settlement knowing that Heard promise to donate most of it to the charity. They both released a statement together, saying that they always loved each other while their relationship was explosive. They also claimed that they never tried to extort each other for money, and they never wanted to harm each other. Unfortunately, their story did not end there.

Trouble In The News

However, two years after the divorce between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, Amber wrote an opinion piece for Washington Post in 2018, quoting how she was a victim of domestic abuse. The article did not cite Johnny Depp by name. A year after this opinion piece appeared in the Washington Post, Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife for 50 million dollars saying that the opinion piece cost him work in Hollywood. She couldn’t get the case thrown out, so she sued Johnny Depp for 100 million dollars, and that case is still in progress.

In 2020, Johnny Depp sued the publisher of The Sun because that newspaper claimed Depp was physically abusive to Amber Heard. Johnny would argue he never abused his wife, but his wife did say Depp threatened to kill her many times, so the courts decided that the accusation made by The Sun was true, so Johnny lost that case.

No Verdict Yet

The defamation case Johnny filed against his ex-wife is still going on. Doctor Shannon Curry was supposed to find if there was any proof of the violence between Johnny and Amber. However, she was later asked to evaluate Amber Heard, and Doctor Curry said Amber had multiple personality disorders, which may explain the accusations Amber made against Johnny. Doctor Curry said it’s common for people who have this disorder to play the victim and claim abuse even if they are the abuser. Testimony in their cases is still being heard.

It’s always sad when two people break up. It’s always worse when the breakup gets messy, and accusations get thrown around. With the testimony from this doctor, maybe Johnny was telling the truth when he said he never got violent. We’ll just have to wait and see what the courts decide.
